Makar Sankranti is a Hindu festival celebrated in India and also with different names. It is mostly celebrated on 14th January but in rare cases, it is also celebrated on 15th of January.
There are the various significance of Makar Sankranti festival like it marks the winter solstice and in some parts of the country, it starts the major harvesting festival in the country. The day also starts the northward moment of the sun so Surya Dev ( God of the Sun) is worshipped this day. People celebrate this festival by making sweets especially laddoos and decorating their houses. And for kids, it's the day for flying kites.
